Carving Pumpkins

The girls had a great time cleaning out the pumpkins before Mom and Dad helped carve them.

Halloween

Halloween-
The girls had a lot of fun getting ready and being in their costumes.  They had fun trick or treating but little Molly's legs couldn't carry her very far and Mom's arms couldn't carry Molly very far.
Summer had more fun giving out the candy when we got home, she declared she LOVES Halloween!

More pictures of the first day

Summer getting ready to get out of the car.  With the principal, Mrs. Cassell and waiting to be picked up.

Summer's first day of Kindergarten

Summer started Kindergarten on August 18th.  She was so excited, and was happy to get right out of the van at the drop off line.
The principal opened the car door and Summer said "hi, do you like my back pack?" And off she went.........  I was not thinking I would cry, but I did.  There went my baby, off into the world.
the next day we stopped to buy her some new tennis shoes, since she had grown out of hers.  she's in a size 10 now!
This is her first pair of tie shoes and we sat for about 5 minutes with me showing her how to do it and soon she had it down.  After that she kept untying and re tying them.  She was so proud to show her Daddy when he got home form work and said  "wait until Aunt Jill sees this!"

We're still in our campus apartment until we can move into our new house September 9th.  aunt Jill is coming to take care of them and get Summer to school and dance class while Mommy and Daddy go back to North Carolina for the movers to load up our furniture.  Grandma and Papa are still taking good care of our Dog, Kelly, since there are no dogs allowed in the apartment.
We'll be happy to be one family again

Visit to Aunt Jill's

Summer and I went on a trip to Ohio to visit Aunt Jill and her family.  Our Sister in law Kirsten and her son Finn came from Wisconsin too.

We had a lot of fun swimming in the lake and the pool and shopping and of course having smores by the fire.
It was a nice, relaxing trip.

Molly stayed at home and Grandma and Papa came from Indiana to be with her.. She had a lot of fun having them all to herself, and having all the toys to herself with no one to boss her around!

Santa's Land

We went to Santa's Land a few weeks ago.  It's an amusement park for little kids.
The girls had a lot of fun feeding the animals and riding the little rides.  Summer loves the helicopters.  I tried to talk her into riding the Ferris wheel with me but, no, not this year.  It's still too high up there!
We rode the train and even saw Santa and sat on his lap to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.  Molly went right up after Summer did.  She is usually way to scared to go near Santa.
We rode the peddle boats in the the lake and fed the fish and monkeys and lemurs.  It was a hot day, but we had a good time!

Oh, and of course Mom got asked to come up to the stage during the magic show.  I was lucky enough to get to have my hair stand straight out with the electro static ball!

Summer turns 5!

Our littel girl is 5 years old!
We had fun opening presents and eating cake.  Then the 4 of us went to see the movie "up",  is was so good!
Molly got antsy half way through, so we went out to get some skittles and she was good for the rest of the show.

Our little garden

The girls and I planted a little garden.  I just want them to watch  the plants grow and to help take care of it.
We have watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, pumpkins and basil.

Summer Lee Graduated from Pre school today

Our little girl graduated from pre school today.  She was very excited.  We got her a  new dress and curled her hair.. Her curls all came out by the time they went across the stage.
She's ready to head to Kindergarten in the fall!

Easter at the Zoo

After the girls found all the eggs that the Easter bunny left, we headed for the zoo.  the girls had a great time. They got to ride a camel and brush the baby goats.

Molly's all time favorite food is blueberries.  I never had noticed before that when goats poop, it comes out in little nuggets like rabbit poop.  When Molly saw one of the goats poop, she thought she had died and gone to blueberry heaven!  All those blueberries all over the ground , just there for her eating pleasure!  I quickly explained that these were goat poop and we don't eat it. The disappointment on her face.....priceless.  She was still amazed and just kept watching anyway.
It was a beautiful day and we all had a good time and the best part was that Summer didn't get car sick.  Mommy remembered to give her the motion sickness pill in plenty of time.

Coloring Easter Eggs and 5K

This morning I walked a 5K with my friend Grace.  It was to support the beautification of the the lake walking trails.  It was cold and windy, but we had a nice time and racked up 10 miles for our week.

When I got home the girls were waiting to color Easter Eggs, so I got them cooked and away we went.  They turned out pretty, with not too much spilling of the egg color.

The girls are pretty excited about the Easter Bunny coming tonight!  We plan to go to the zoo tomorrow, it's supposed to be a nice day.

Spring

Spring is finally here and the girls are so happy to be able to play outside more.
Molly enjoys the sand box and Summer is having fun learning to ride her bike.

We have decided to start Summer in violin lessons in the fall.  Her pediatrician's wife is a Suzuki violin teacher who also plays in the Asheville symphony.  Summer and I visited a few lessons and Summer is very excited about it.  We'll try it for a while and see if she likes it.  She loves music, so I think she will enjoy it and hopefully be good at it too.

Molly has had several weeks of being potty trained.  She still wears a pull up at night but other wise is doing great with it.  She loves being a big girl like her Sissy. The girls wear the same size underwear, in fact, since Summer stared wearing them, she has never needed a bigger size, she has a tiny tushy.

photos of the girls

Wow, a whole year since I have updated!

A friend pointed out that I have not updated for a year. I decided it was time to let everyone know how well the Sims family is doing.

We have had a great year. Molly and Summer have both grown leaps and bounds.
Molly turned 2 in January and her vocabulary has blossomed. She repeats anything we say, maybe not so clearly but we know what she's saying.

Summer is 41/2 and simply cannot wait to go to kindergarten. She is in pre school 3 mornings a week and loves it. She gets up and gets dressed and runs down stairs to say "I'm ready to go"
I am looking into starting her with violin lessons. She loves music and seems interested in all instruments. I thought we would start here and see if she likes it. I also want to begin piano lessons sometime as well.

We are all doing well. I am enjoying being home with the girls. I do work an occasional Saturday or Sunday and I like to catch up with my friends and get out of the house.

We are currently trying to decide what to do for vacation this summer. Brad wants to go somewhere where we can scuba dive, but I am trying to find a place where we don't have to fly with both girls and all their stuff and then all the scuba gear. It's supposed to be relaxing, right?

I will try to post some pictures of my "big" girls.
